Dinosaur Mural

The children have been working hard on our dinosaur mural.  They have cooperated well working in groups.  It is still a work in progress and I will post the final product later.  A big thank you to Jordan Christensen from Year 7 who helped us with the dinosaur outlines   Here are the children working hard

Dance Sharing

The children shared their dances from the gym festival with the school at last Friday's assembly.  Thanks to Penny for the hard work she puts into dance.

Integrating Topic and Writing

The children are right into Dinosaurs.  Here we are writing in groups to generate facts and ideas for report writing.  The dinosaur under the microscope was a stegosaurus. Every child in the group had a responsibility e.g. gofer, scribe, director or reporter.
A very focused group. Sharing ideas and developing knowledge.

Concentration,  Get it right Theo !

Two ladies spy the camera.

I can see you are thinking Jake.

Um , is that right?

Small Paleontologists

Today Room 4 had fun digging through a pretend fossilized rock to find a dinosaur.  We used tapestry needles and nails as our tools to gently remove the rock.  All the children were thrilled to unearth a dinosaur that they could keep.  A big thank you must go to the  year 7&8 girls who created our fossils for us out of a water and  baking soda recipe.

Here we are just about to attack our fossils.

I can see a dinosaur emerging.

Look what we found.

Look at the variety of dinosaurs we got.  No two were the same.  There were lots of species e.g. Triceratops, stegosaurus, anklosaurus, apatosaurus, duckbills, pterosaurs and of course
T. Rex

ANZAC Commemoration

Assembly on Friday was a special one to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the battle at Gallipoli in WW1.  It was a very moving ceremony.  The children were very respectful and conducted themselves well.
